Lethal Weapon Film CollectionAction/Comedy/Thriller
Lethal Weapon is a 1987 action-comedy film, and the first in the Lethal Weapon film series - all directed by Richard Donner and starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as a "mis-matched" pair of LAPD detectives. The series falls into the action-comedy and thriller genres, and is thought to be a prime example of the "buddy cop" plot device. When a red BMW crashes while they are chasing it, they discover the trunk is full of South African Krugerands. Their boss assigns them to protect a federal witness named Leo Getz (Joe Pesci) to try and keep them out of trouble. When the witness reveals he has been doing business with South Africans, the story evolves into a fast moving chase. The crooked cop (Jack Travis) thwarts them at every turn, mainly by killing anyone who is about to talk, but Murtaugh has personal problems of his own as his family are brought into the equation. Chris Rock joins the team as a new cop and Rianne's husband. Lorna is pregnant and considers marriage with Riggs, and Leo Getz is back, now as a private investigator.
