The term "Martial Arts Movie" has come to include a lot of things. There is no Anime in here,
although that collection is done now. There is quite a bit of Bruce Lee, because I think he set
the standard for these movies. In fact, the genre probably exists because of him, but the
collection doesn't end there and I intend to add a few more - Enjoy

Fists of Fury (1971)

Chein is a city boy who moves with his cousins to work at an ice factory. He does this with
a family promise never to get involved in any fight. However, when members of his family
begin disappearing after meeting the management of the factor, the resulting mystery
and pressures forces him to break that vow and take on the villainy of the Big Boss.

The Way of the Dragon (1972)

Tang Lung (Bruce Lee) arrives in Rome to help his cousins in the restaurant business.
They are being pressured to sell their property to the syndicate, who will stop at nothing
to get what they want. When Tang arrives he poses a new threat to the syndicate, and
they are unable to defeat him. The syndicate boss hires the best Japanese and European
martial artists to fight Tang, but he easily finishes them off. The American martial artist
Colt (Chuck Norris) is hired and has a showdown with Tang in Rome's famous Colosseum.

Five Deadly Venoms (1978)

A dying teacher instructs his final student to check on the activities of five former pupils,
each of whom he taught a unique and special style of kung-fu to: The Centipede, Snake,
Scorpion, Lizard, and Toad. His final student, who knows a little of each style must team
up with one of the other good students to destroy the evil ones if there are any. Greed
and treachery ensue as the student discovers that some of the students are indeed evil...

Jackie Chan is a boy who is used as a janitor at his kung-fu school. Jackie Chan can't
fight and is always getting bullied by the teachers and pupils. One day an old man
helps Jackie train in an art of kung-fu called the Snake's Fist. Jackie doesn't get
bullied again. Then Jacki creates his own style and mixes it with the Snake's Fist.
His style is based on the movement and actions of a cat. One day the old man is in
trouble by a man who does The Eagle's Claw and Jackie helps the old man, who
names his new art.

Shaolin Temple (1982)

The Tang emperor is betrayed by one of his generals, who installs himself as emperor
in the East Capital. The son of one of his slave workers escapes to the Shaolin Temple,
learns kung fu, and sets out to kill the traitor, who killed his father. The monks have to
help him, and in the process, they save the true emperor, who rewards them greatly.
Based on a true story from Shaolin folklore, but highly fictionalized.

Master Killer: The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin (1983)
One of the most revered martial arts films of all time, this is the story of a young man
who joins the Shaolin Temple when the Manchus kill his family.

Police Story (1985)

Jackie Chan is a Hong-Kong cop, who scores his first big hit by virtually single-handedly
capturing and arresting a big drug- lord. Of course, the drug-lord isn't too happy about
this, and frames Kevin with the murder of another cop (who happened to be on the take).
Jackie has to clear his name, while keeping himself from getting killed or arrested, and
keeping his girlfriend from leaving him. [This is the first in the series that got Jackie Chan
started, most of the story is Cop/Crime and doesn't feature the fight-art until the end,
but it's considered a classic and the series is cool

Police Story 2 (1988)

Despite his success at apprehending criminals, Kevin Chan's unorthodox approach to
his work as a police officer sees him demoted to the traffic branch. Despite this,
the man he put behind bars is now out of prison, and has vowed to make his life a
misery. While this crime boss his harassing Kevin and his girlfriend, the police are
contemplating reinstating Kevin to help them fight a group of bombers attempting
to extort $10 million from building owners.

The Legend of the Drunken Master (1994)
This is one of Jackie Chan's earlier films.
Returning home with his father after a shopping expedition, Wong Fei-Hong is unwittingly
caught up in the battle between foreigners who wish to export ancient Chinese artifacts
and loyalists who don't want the pieces to leave the country. Fei-Hong has learned a style
of fighting called "Drunken Boxing", which makes him a dangerous person to cross.
Unfortunately, his father is opposed to his engaging in any kind of fighting, let alone
drunken boxing. Consequently, Fei-Hong not only has to fight against the foreigners, but
overcome his father's antagonism as well.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)

Li is a great warrior, famous throughout QING China for his adventurus life. He decides

Hero (2002)
The movie stars Jet Li and is loosely based on the legendary Jing Ke. In ancient China,
before the reign of the first emperor, warring factions throughout the Six Kingdoms
plot to assassinate the most powerful ruler, Qin. When a minor official defeats Qin's
three principal enemies, he is summoned to the palace to tell Qin the story of his
surprising victory.

Ong Bak (2003)

The Forbidden Kingdom (2008)
A discovery made by a kung fu obsessed American teen sends him on an adventure
to China, where he joins up with a band of martial arts warriors (Jackie Chan & Jet Li)
in order to free the imprisoned Monkey King... This movie is good to watch with your kids,
or with yourself. It isn't overly campy, but it does have magical elements to it.

Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon (2008)
Excellent strategy and weaponry. The action is high and this movie is very well made
- it's not the "flying guys on wires" thing that we've come to expect...
His country torn asunder by civil war, a common man heeds the call of duty. From the
humblest of roots, he rises through the ranks through courage and cunning to command
an army charged with liberating the land from an evil warlord. You'll notice that this
movie is not overly crammed with fight scenes, but it's balanced with strategic thinking.
Be prepared, this has subtitles, but it's absolutely worth it.

Red Cliff (2008)
In the early third century, the land of Wu is invaded by the warlord Cao Cao and his
million soldiers. The ruler of Wu, Sun Quan, calls on the rival warlord Liu Bei for help,
but their two armies are still badly outnumbered. However, the Wu strategist Zhou Yu
sees that Cao Cao's army is unused to battling on the sea, which may just give them a
chance if they can exploit this weakness properly.

Zhou Yu, and the two became.

Kung Fu: The Movie (1986)
This is a TV movie, and the first in a series of sequels which continued the story
of the Shaolin monk, Kwai Chang Caine, introduced in the original movie and continued
in the 1972-75 television series, Kung Fu. The role of Caine is resumed by David
Carradine. The role of his son, Chung Wang, is portrayed by Brandon Lee, who makes
his acting debut with this film. Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee) was killed during
filming of "The Crow". Bruce Lee, Brandon Lee and David Carradine are gone - But,
their work had a huge impact on our culture & we'll always remember them.
